Irivne, Calif. (June 4, 2008): Monster
Energy Kawasaki Team Green rider Tatum Sik finished 4-4 and
fourth overall in the AMA/WMA National Motocross Championship
Presented by Kawasaki season opener at the Hangtown Classic in
Sacramento, Calif. Sik , a 17-year-old high school senior,
rode near the front all day to finish fourth overall, matching
her career best as a pro.
"I just tried to stay consistent," said
Sik. "I got a really good start in the first moto and was
running fourth. I moved my way up to second and I just wanted to
stay up. The leader went down so I was up front. I wasn't sure
what to do, so I just hung it out and rode as hard as I could.
Towards the end, I physically ran out of gas and just held on
for fourth."
While Sik is set to graduate from high
school in a couple of weeks, she is learning on the track as
well. After riding too hard too early in the first moto, Sik
changed her strategy for the second race of the weekend.
"In the second moto I paced myself the
whole race," said Sik. "It was hard because I got another good
start and I was battling for position all race. It was a
good weekend and fourth place is a good result."

Championship at Freestone Raceway in Wortham, Texas on June 7-8.
